About me

Hi I’m Zoe, a fully qualified and insured counsellor. I have a degree in counselling and have trained as an integrative counsellor. I am also a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I am trained in several counselling modalities such as psychodynamic, person-centred, CBT, gestalt. I would describe myself as more humanistic, working with how individuals find meaning and exploring what that means to them, engaging with curious questions to enable a deeper awareness of self, relationships and patterns that may be impacting how they experience the world.

I enjoy working creatively, so this is something I can offer my clients. I am passionate about supporting people and journeying alongside those that want to explore deeper and find more understanding of themselves and balance in life. There are many reasons we as humans experience problems, and together we work to explore what is going on in your world, building resilience. I believe love and acceptance is a catalyst for change. I aim to provide a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental environment. I believe everyone deserves a place to be heard and accepted. Through counselling and the collaboration between client and counsellor it can be a powerful experience that can enable greater freedom.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

A counselling hour refers to a session of 50 minutes. If you feel you would like a longer session this is something we can discuss together.

I have experience working with both young people and those who are neurodivergent and have a particular interest in how therapy can be adapted in order to be inclusive and a space where individuals feel safe to explore their world and how they understand themselves and their relationships around them.

I currently only offer individual counselling for young people and adults.

I have been trained integratively, which means I have been trained with different theories and approaches, for example, CBT which focuses on changing behaviour and limiting beliefs, psychodynamic exploring patterns relating to early childhood and the impact on you now. As well as a humanistic approach, working with your experience of the world and how you make sense of it. I enjoy working creatively, this may or may not be something that feels comfortable to you. We work with what you bring to the session and what you are wanting to explore and the variation of theories I am trained in allows us to draw on different ways we can work with what you bring.

The amount of time we spend together is different with every individual. Some prefer to do short term work focusing on a particular issue they want help with, whereas others may be exploring deeper work which can be longer term therapy.

Counselling is only effective if you are willing and ready to do the work. It is also important you feel the counselling relationship between us is safe. Sometimes when we start unpacking difficulties we may have been holding onto for years it can open up wounds and things feel harder than before. This is normal for the beginning, however it mustn't remain that way, which is why counselling needs to be at the pace right for you. If you feel the relationship isn’t working please bring it to the session as I want to create a space for you to be honest about your experiences, however I believe hugely in client autonomy so you can end the counselling at any point.

Once your session is booked with me, payment is required 24 hours before your session. If you need to cancel a session for any reason you won’t be charged as long as it is 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time. If it is within 48 hours of your appointment you will be charged your session fee.
